Toyin Abraham’s comedy Oversabi Aunty has crossed ₦1 billion in Nigerian box-office revenue, according to an update shared by its West African distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, on X.
The distributor’s update also positions the film as the first Nollywood directorial debut to hit the ₦1 billion mark and as the fourth-highest-grossing Nollywood title of all time on the West African chart (figures cited as unadjusted for inflation).
The film opened with ₦87.8 million over its first weekend, plus ₦12.7 million from preview screenings, pushing its opening total to ₦100.5 million.
FilmOne says the title will remain in cinemas nationwide, with select screenings already running in the UK and additional releases planned for North America, moves that could extend the film’s earnings beyond its local run.

For Abraham, this is her first cinema run to clear ₦1 billion and her biggest box-office result yet. Her 2024 release Alakada: Bad & Boujee finished around ₦500.3 million after a long theatrical stretch, making the jump to ₦1 billion a clear step up in commercial pull.
Oversabi Aunty is built around a familiar Nigerian character type – Toun, a well-meaning but overbearing church usher who constantly inserts herself into other people’s lives, until the pressure spills into her own home. The supporting cast includes Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele, Queen Nwokoye, Jemima Osunde, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tana Adelana, and Toyin Afolayan.
